the result of my itchy fingers, i like them!
painted bumblebee on them, think i wanna do a ladybird version for another shoe, have to find one to do on though
go to patrick's blog to listen to jason mraz's i'm yours, the acoustic stripped version ftw!
i'm sorely tempted to go for brett anderson live in singapore on 16th aug (the day before my birthday too!), if not for the close proximity to the EOYs ): baybeats this year will probably be a miss as well, though there are some bands that sound interesting. i'm secretly hoping my parents miraculously get tickets to chitty chitty bang bang so i can go watch :D i know i loved the cassette tape version! considering going for WOMAD as well.
oh sadness, i casually mentioned the dim sum dollies today and my mum said that she considered getting tickets but decided against it because of dad's and my irregular schedules! ): but i got DKNY be delicious from her cos she didn't like it. i wonder if i'll ever use it, seems wasted on me - maybe i'll give it to the sister (but i feel it'll be even more of a waste). plus i asked if we could go to HK sometime soon to check out the shopping+food, and she replied "sure, when? ask aunt betty."
poor dad has been working till 10pm the past week (running and then sleeping at 11.30pm) just to prep for the case, feel extremely 心痛 for him. he's extremely disciplined lah! but well, it's what he loves doing (and i can hardly say i love studying)
my sis is getting jap buffet for her birthday dinner/ lunch.
speaking of which, i'm doomed to a pathetic birthday this year, just like the past 8 years, what's new? (junkfood shirt! :D)
i'm getting sick of the number of unread mail rising exponentially. really, i should just sit and watch the counter flicker.
titoudao had some interesting scenes, too tired though. will blog about it. tomorrow.
(so, my first official post with vox)
I'm back from italia, with a rich medieval history & culture, home to beautiful romanesque, renaissance, gothic, byzantine art & architecture.
Napoli/Pompeii > Capri/Sorrento > Assissi > Milano > Venice > Pisa/Florence > Sienna/Orvieto > Roma/Vatican
I think i might have missed some places, i can't rightly remember all of them because we barely spent a day there. Italia is expensive, and though it was our maiden trip with a tourgroup, it is really, the only way to tour Italia. Unless you're filthy rich, especially with the exchange rate. I feel the pinch for my parents (even if they don't feel it -.-) I would of course, liked to have more time to explore the places, especially the small towns (distinctly different in their own ways) but one can't have everything.
But learning did take place, though admittedly at some places i started to zombie out with the local guides' monotonous, sleep-inducing voice. May the Leaning Tower of Pisa stop leaning further and may Venice stop sinking soon. If not, UNESCO (and the world) will lose two beautiful world heritage sites.
Architecture was impressive but requires an extensive imagination for all their (the ruins aka piles of stone/bricks/marble) grandeur. Architecture is a form of art, but i don't quite know how to appreciate it; it doesn't help that half the time it's partially destroyed. I would really have loved to visit more musuems, besides the Vatican, like the Uffizi. I didn't get to see Michelangelo's David in Accademia dell'Arte del Disegno, only the replica in Piazza della Signoria.
How could one go to Italia and ignore the fashion. No, i didn't buy any Gucci, Prada, Miu Miu, Bvlgari, Ferragamo, D&G, Armani (though i can't say the same for the aunt and mother) because designer goods aren't my style. I thought they were ugly, i prefer my Ciao Bella shirt anyday (: Got the random souvenirs here and there.
Italian food is tastefully good, they take so much pride in preparing and eating, though authentic ones don't come cheap. Our last night in Roma was spent on a 2 hr dinner which amounted to 230euros (= S$460) for 9 people, and that was without desert (because we were too stuffed). But it was oolala-good (: i'm all for a great meal!
The weather was nice mostly, some days were freezing but mostly it was just nice (: Unlike the weather, everyday had eyecandy (: haha i know someone's getting jealous now, because i see more hot italian guys when i walk down a street as compared to the whole stretch of orchard road. i'm all for eyecandy too!
I made new friends and all, but i missed the ones at home (: I guess the greatest thing about Italy was like being in a time-warp, where nothing else mattered except there and then, and there was no work or worries to distract you. Which is why i wistfully wished i could be back there.
On the flight home, a guy apparently fainted in the bathroom, so the pilot had to request for any medical personnel on board for assistance. I drank Singapore Sling, which apparently contains 12% alcohol (i suspect rum) and got a major hangover ): at least derrick was being a dear and let me use him as pillow (: I watched 3 movies - Camping (in Francais), Singapore Dreaming, A Beautiful Mind.
I cheerfully proclaim that Chelsea won, and is ONLY 2 pts behind; Man Utd lost was defeated, which led to me suanning my Dad greatly. Soccer must be some sort of universal language, seeing that the newspaper was in Italian but we still could comprehend the results.
And thus concludes my lengthy post. CIAO!
